The art of Tim Dillen provides a unique perspective on the
concept of 'near' and 'far'.

The medium is small pieces of colored vinyl applied onto sheets
of acrylic panels. The vinyl provides a very consistant, UV
resistant color so that each work can be coordinated with
another.

When view up close, you see each piece of vinyl and at times,
the image is not entirely apparent. The farther you move away,
the more the small parts blend into a detailed image.

made up of very small colored pieces that
form just a hint of the chain. The mind fills in

“You really need to stand at least 15 feet away to see the
image the first time. I enjoy the reaction when people finally
see it. I wanted to see how a minimal amount of actual pieces
can convey a very complex whole. The right side of the helmet
reflects the earth, the left side reflects the space shuttle.
There are several reflections and shadows that you see the
more you look at it. I also liked the NASA and flag badges as
well as the one on the right shoulder”
