Opening

Opening day was September 22nd, 2006.  The night before consisted
of a bit of nail bitting.  Amy was diligently working on her art and
wouldn't be able to deliver until the morning of the opening.  This
made for an uneasy evening.

To get my mind off of things, I decided to blow up balloons for the arch
outside.  That took 4 hours - good thing I had a pump.  My fingers
were bleeding which made tying balloons rather painful.  I had cut up
my fingers working quickly on various things for the opening.

True to her word, Amy arrived at 8:00 a.m.  The Gallery opening was
at 5:00.  So much to do, so little time.  Everyone sensed that I was a
good bit over the edge.  Everyone pitched in including Amy's Mom
(Sally) and Dad (Phil).  We all worked to hang the art.  I got the art
priced with time to spare to take a deep breath.

Amy was a little worked over, she had not
slept in two days.  I wished her well and
recommended she go home for a few
hours rest.

Meanwhile, our wonderful caterer, Tom McCrary, put
on an unbelievable spread.  The food was amazing
as well as the presentation.

Our friends at the Proper Pot downstairs
provided a case of wine - that should last - 24 bottles.
We got 40 2-liter bottles of soft drinks and lots of ice.

5:00 and it's showtime!  The people came and
came.  Hitting the buffet and wine pretty hard.
They bypassed the soft drinks - looks like it was
going to be a good party.

The rest was quite a blurr.  One conversation
after another.  So may well wishers.  Friends, family
and new friends.  About 175 in all.  Oh my feet hurt.

The wine lasted mostly till the end.  We didn't use
more that a couple bottles of soft drinks.

I had about a 2 minute PowerPoint presentation in the theater about
the offices.  Not very entertaining.  Funny thing was that people were
staying 20 minutes or so watching it.  Now I now it's not that
interesting.  I guess the good music, bright lights and wine made
everyone feel at home - perfect.

Tom worked diligently to keep the buffet supplied. Not an easy task.

A very good group of people these art lovers.
